Leibster Award Nominees Unite!...

Hello, Happy Sunday and Welcome to the Farm! Someone, anyone, please tell me that your week has gone much better than mine. Even if you're lying, please tell me!  It's been real, and I don't mind saying that it's been extremely frustrating as well. Our payroll direct deposit was late, and I don't mean late on the same day; I had a flat tire; our building is going to have no restroom facilities due to an under the building leak; and I had to once again fight with the credit union that holds our mortgage because they can't seem to figure out how to post the flipping payment.  And by flipping, you all know exactly what I mean.  I'm sure of it.  I did have a really bright moment though when I received an email saying that I was nominated for the Leibster Award. Yay, something GOOD! Although I found out today that my Red Sox are going to the World Series so I'm happy about that!

As I was sitting in the back seat of my friend and co-worker's car (we carpool), on the way to our necessary weekly Monday morning Starbucks visit, I was checking my texts and emails when I opened up the fun one!  Sure, the texts from my daughter are always my favorites, but this email was rad!  Do we still say that?  It was from Cindy at DIY Beautify and it said I was nominated for the Liebster Award! Now, having a teensy weensy blog following, I am thrilled by any and all visitors that come through to visit, whether they end up following or not.  In this case, I noticed that she followed me as well.  Yay!  She left me the nicest comments telling me what it was she enjoyed about my blog and it totally made my day!  On a Monday even! Can't get any better!

My first thought was, "Is this woman crazy?  She's nominated me for a mop?  What the heck is THAT all about?  How the heck did she get into my house to see my floors?"  Then I remembered that the mop brand name was Lieberman, not Liebster.  Oh thank heavens!  Small scare there since we all know (and if you don't know I'm telling you now) I HATE to mop the floor.  Whew, got out of that one safely.  But then I was thinking, "Is she going to send me some lobster?  Why?  She doesn't even know me and I'm not a huge fan of lobster.  What the heck is THAT all about?"  But I stopped my idiot self from that one and reasoned that if she was sending me lobster, she would have said that.  Suffice it to say that at that point I figured it might just be a good idea to actually READ the email, rather than glimpse it over.  So I did.  And that's when my whole entire week was made, because after that it all went downhill.  THANK YOU SO MUCH, CINDY, FOR MAKING MY WEEK!!!!

I know you're all asking what I did then, so I'll tell you.  I bragged to Leslie and Liz. Yep.  Right in the Starbucks drive-through.  And I was ok with it.  I hate braggarts, so that's saying a lot, but I did it - I bragged and I read the comments out loud that Cindy had written.  It was awesome.  And then I got my soy Chai tea, extra hot, no water, and went on my merry way.  It was a good day.  :D  And then, since I really needed to know something about Cindy, I went straight to her blog.  Chai in hand, I started reading and I have absolutely no idea what we talked about on the rest of the way to work because I wasn't paying a bit of attention. Sorry L&L!  I had priorities! First of all, the name of her blog won me over because it's so simply defining of her posts.  DIY Beautify is a great blog for homey projects, tips for your budget and just about anything else you want to look for.  It's very comfortable, meaning one can spend a llooonng time reading the posts and admiring the projects. You've GOT to visit Cindy there; you'll be sorry if you don't.

So... I am supposed to answer 11 questions that my nominator has chosen, and I'll do that first before I give you my nominees and questions for them, as well as the rules for participation.  And I hope everyone does participate; there is NOTHING, and I mean nothing, more humble than being nominated by a fellow blogger.  It's what we're all hoping for - that one of our favorite bloggers has noticed us!  After all, I aspire to be as creative, or funny, or as good a cook, or as worldly as some of the ones I follow and it makes me smile that someone has noticed little old me.  :)

Alrighty then, without further ado, here are the questions Cindy has set out for me and my responses.  Hold onto your hats!

1. What post are you most proud of?
I think the post I'm most proud of is the one about my brother, Viva La Veterans. This was my way of saluting not only my big brother, but also the many veterans in all areas of our military who have fought for our freedoms and our privileges, some offering the ultimate sacrifice. Too often they are forgotten or just thought of as an extension of our rights and they are much more important than that.

2. What is your favorite color?
That's super easy - green! And any of the earth colors come a very close second.

3. Heels or flats?
Well, since I'm a super klutz, more often than not it's flats, but I do like small heels, about 1 to 1-2 inches.

4. Would you rather bake or cook? Or get take-out??
Actually, I would rather bake and/or cook when I have the time because I love to do it. But if you're offering me Aloha Island Grill, then it's take-out all the way!

5. For your dream vacation, would you rather go to the beach, the mountains or camping?
Um, with this one I'm going to have to say the beach. We all know I'd start a forest fire or something if I were camping and if I were in the mountains I'd fall off a cliff. Beach it is so I can stay away from the danger and still enjoy.

6. What is your least favorite household chore?
This one's easy too! DUSTING. I hate dusting. Hate it, hate it, hate it!!!!!

7. What is your favorite thing to do with your family?
Hmmm, this one's a little difficult. I have several favorite things, depending on which family member and where we are. But I'd have to say just hanging out and talking about some of the funny things we've done, or rehashing old stories of holidays. There are some really entertaining and poignant memories both and I love to keep those alive and make new ones. Example? You got it - my daughter had broken her arm for the third time (she was a super tomboy and had no fear) and when we got to the emergency room she bet the doctor $25 that it was broken. Not believing her because she wasn't crying and carrying on, he took the bet and told her they'd have to wait for the x-rays. Yep, he paid her $25 in green. LOL! She was in the third grade that time.

8. What has been the most difficult thing to learn for your blog? (ie: how to add a pin it button, how to increase SEO, figure out CSS, etc)
Uh, exactly what are those things you just mentioned? LOL! I think the most difficult thing has been how to add buttons from other blogs. Sometimes it works fine, but other times it just doesn't seem to want to go the way I think it should, even with the directions as clear as day. That's why you only see links and not buttons.

9. What is your most embarrassing moment that you can publicly share, lol?
Oh boy, I don't think I will EVER forget this one as long as I live, even if I have Alzheimer's! I was about 19 and working in a nursing home and it was my day off. I was poor, trust me, POOR, and I did not have a car or a phone. Luckily I lived only three blocks from where I worked. Well, my shift was 4:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. I woke up thinking someone was at my door and, yep, there was. Someone had called in and they needed me to cover. Needing the money, I of course said yes and threw on my uniform really quickly and went to work. All day long I kept getting funny looks and snickers and I couldn't figure out why. I figured it was my bed hair since I just kind of threw a ponytail in it. Nope, when I got home that afternoon and undressed to take a shower, I realized that I had on these BRIGHT FUCHSIA PINK underwear that everyone could see through my white uniform pants. Oh my gosh! I was so embarrassed!!!!!!

10. Who is the first boy you kissed?
Oh gosh, I really can't remember this one! Crud! Am I lame or what? I have visions of Andy Herd when I was in the fifth grade, but I know I never kissed him. Does that mean I still have a crush?

11. What is your favorite restaurant?
I have two. One is Casa Mia in Kennewick, Washington and the other is Mamma Mia in Spokane, Washington. Are you getting the hint that I like Italian? These are both homemade, like my grandmother used to make, not frozen and reheated for the customers.

Apparently, I'm also supposed to give you 11 random facts about myself, but I don't know if I have 11 random facts about myself. Hmmmm. Let's see if I can come up with that:

1. I live on a farm where my hubby raises cows, pigs, wheat, hay and barley. I am actually a city girl, from Sacramento. LOL!

2. I used to be in the roller derby.

3. I love eggplant.

4. I'm a super wimp, having no strength at all. I can hurt myself without even trying.

5. I can fall over anything, even if there isn't anything there. Just sayin'.

6. I hate winter - that's not so random. Anyone who reads this blog knows that.

7. I have two dogs that think they are human. I'm beginning to think so too. Baxter talks.

8. Even though I almost despise tv, I do love the old tv shows like Lucy.

9. I have two brothers and a sister.

10. I'm on my third Hyundai and, laugh if you will, but I LOVE them!

11. I hate drinking water. Always have, always will. I just don't like it. Weird, I know.

Well, wasn't that enlightening?  I'm boring and I'm sorry.  I just don't know what to tell you that's random about me.  The rules didn't say to give you a history of all the stupid things I've done so I'm not going to.  hahahaha  And, speaking of rules, here they are!  Hang on a minute though, Mr. Scrappin thinks I need to help him make breakfast because apparently his arms are broken.  Back in a flash!

Alright, here we go, rules please!

1. Acknowledge the person who nominated you.
2. Share 11 random facts about yourself.
3. Answer 11 questions given to you by the nominator.
4. Nominate 11 other bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers.
5. Come up with 11 questions for your nominees.
6. Notify the bloggers whom you have nominated (Note: you cannot nominate the person who nominated you).

While I'm busy trying to think of questions for my nominees, I will name my choices for the nominees of the Liebster Award.  Not lobster, mops or anything else.  Just so that's clear.  :)

And now, for the questions my nominees will get to answer.  Oh, those lucky ducks. Hee hee hee  Oh, alright, I'll be nice, even though I'm pretty sure it's going to kill me.

1.  Do you blog for income or recreation?
2.  What is your favorite blogging memory?

11. Who do you admire most?

Ok folks, that's it for now!  I hope you'll stop in and visit Cindy at DIY Beautify, as well as the other nominees I've named.  I know without a doubt that you will enjoy each and every one of their blogs and the great ideas they've shared.

  1. Congratulations! You totally deserve it. Your dream vacation made me laugh (we love camping in the mountains!) and I totally understand about your dogs. I'm sure one of mine understands everything we say and tried to communicate with us. The other one, not so much. He's a little slow...

  2. Thanks Al! I appreciate that! If you ever get the unfortunate chance to see me in action, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. LOL!
